The following message was sent by the Principal of Cottonwood Elementary School, located at 5606 S. 147th St.
Dear Parents,
We want to make you aware that there have been three similar reports of students being approached by a teenage white male with blonde hair in a white pick-up truck after the children were dropped off in the neighborhood by a school bus. The teen offered candy but the children wisely ran away. The incidents occurred in the eastern part of the school district.
The police have been notified. The bus drivers also are aware and will be on alert.
Please take a moment to talk with your child about safety precautions:
*Children should walk to and from school with a buddy.
*Children should refuse to go anywhere with people they don't know.
*Children are not expected to help adults with directions or lost puppies.
*If a car stops and the driver attempts to ask for help, children should run away.
*In potentially dangerous situations, children should make lots of noise to alert neighbors, run
to a safe place, or find an adult they can trust.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep your child safe!

Volunteers are still needed for this year's Easter Egg Hunt and Neighborhood Garage Sale. To date, we have had only one volunteer for each of these activities, and these activities are dependent on volunteers. If you would like to volunteer to be part of a committee for either of these events please contact any of the current Board. If we can't find enough interest we will have to cancel these events for this year. The deadline for the volunteering for the Easter Egg Hunt is March 1st. Thanks, HOA Board |

Our son-in-law’s truck was parked in the street in front of our house on 177th Ave on Friday night, January 20, 2012, and was egged. Please call the police if you witness this kind of activity. Thank you.

The following note was received by the HOA:
"On Sat Oct 1st at 3:40 am I watched 2 young teenagers go through the 2 vehicles in my driveway. After I yelled at them from our window I saw 3 more young teenagesr run down the street. I chased them to your neighborhood where many people have stated that are young teenage boys that are all hand around together. I am missing items from my vehicle that I would like back. I know after asking many quetions where 2 of the boys live.
This part of town is too night to have to worry about kids doing this kind of stuff. If you have a teenage boy that hangs out with this group or knows something about this that would bring the items back to me it would be appreciated.
This issue will not go away without your help!"
Please call Jeff at 402-630-4589 if you have any information regarding this issue or know how to recover his stollen items. |

We invite you to join in the 2011 National Night Out Program on August 2nd 2011 by leaving your front lights on. This National Program is designed to strengthen our community spirit and police-community partnership while sending a message to criminals that our neighborhood is well organized.
This would be a great opportunity to have a BBQ, meet with your neighbors or just sit and enjoy the evening.
If you are interested in organizing a community walk, activity or some type of event on that night you can contact the board at springridgehomeowners@yahoo.com. |

There were probably 20 people at the meeting, and there were 7-8 that spoke out strongly about not wanting this tower on the church property. The remainder were very interested and wanted to hear the plans for this project. I did speak to several people about this project including several that did not attend the meeting. Several noted (including 3-4) that back up to the church, that they were okay with the tower project. The ones that were okay with the project at the meeting and several that I have visited with outside of the meeting were okay because of the possible imapact to the church if this project is not approved.
The concern is the fact that this is a very valuable piece of property. This is a small church that most likely has a limited financial budget. If the church is approached with an offer to purchase this property they may be forced to take that offer. The residents I spoke with were very concerned about this happening, and if it does what will go on that property, a gas station, strip center etc. They all felt a tower was the lesser of the possible evils.
The possibility of this happening is easy to imagine since it has happened on the corner of 178th and Pacific when the church had to disolve. We now have to fight the Noddle company and their attempt to build apartments on that property.
As I stated I will go to the meeting and speak for the residents that do not want this tower, but I will have to also mention that there are residents that feel this is an option that we can live with.
